A PETITION to disqualify imprisoned televangelist Apollo Quiboloy from the 2025 elections has been rejected by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
The Comelec First Division ruled that the petitioner failed to provide sufficient evidence to declare Quiboloy a nuisance candidate, stating the grounds presented were “incorrect and without factual and legal evidence.”
The decision specifically noted the petitioner’s failure to prove Quiboloy’s nuisance candidacy and that submitting an unauthorized Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) did not constitute material misrepresentation.
Separately, Quiboloy announced he is withdrawing his nomination from the Worshipers’ Party of the Philippines (WPP) and will run as an independent senatorial candidate.
