SENATE President Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, leads the signing of the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of Republic Act No. 11997 or Kabalikat sa Pagtututo Act granting P10,000 allowance for teachers.
A provision of the IRR states that all public school teachers who are engaged in basic education curriculum shall receive allowance.
The teaching allowance is granted for the purchase of tangible or intangible teaching supplies and materials, payment of incidental expenses, and the implementation or conduct of various learning delivery modalities. It shall be considered an outright expense.
Grantees of the Teaching Allowance will not be required to present or submit receipts for the expenses incurred and tax-exempt. Also in photos are newly-confirmed Department of Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara, Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., author and sponsor of the bill.
To further ease the burden of teachers, Escudero suggested that the report the teachers should prepare and submit to the DepEd be lessened. (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau/Office of the Senate President)
