JOURNALIST Arnold Clavio has firmly denied allegations that he received a paper bag containing money sent upon the orders of former congressman Zaldy Co.
The claim was made by Mario Ceniza Jr., one of Co’s former bodyguards, during a press conference where he named Clavio among several media personalities he alleged were given cash. The accusation has since drawn public attention, prompting an immediate and strong response from the veteran broadcaster, who dismissed the claim as completely false and unfounded.
Clavio described the allegation as not only a lie but also ridiculous and deeply saddening, stressing that he has always conducted his work with integrity. “Lies. It’s ridiculous and saddening. But I will face all of these accusations without fear. Talk is cheap. Before you talk big, show the evidence first,” he said in an official statement. He emphasized that he has nothing to hide and remains unafraid of the accusations, openly challenging his accuser to repeat these claims in court and present actual proof instead of making what he called baseless statements in public.
Following the development, GMA Network issued its own statement addressing the matter and reaffirming its standards. The network stated that it takes all issues involving the integrity and professionalism of its journalists very seriously and will conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to establish the facts. GMA also reminded the public of its long-standing commitment to responsible and ethical journalism, and urged everyone to avoid making quick judgments or spreading conclusions based on unverified reports, saying that the truth will be revealed through proper and fair procedures.
