AKBAYAN Representative Perci Cendaña joined fellow Akbayan members this morning at 10 AM in a Tindig Pilipinas indignation protest at the Boy Scout Circle.
The protest was staged in response to the Senate’s decision to archive the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Representative Cendaña and the Akbayan contingent voiced their strong opposition to the Senate’s action, arguing it undermined the democratic process and accountability of public officials.
They called for a thorough investigation into the allegations against the Vice President and expressed concern that the archiving of the complaint effectively shields her from scrutiny. The group emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that no one, regardless of their position, is above accountability.
The protest underscored Akbayan’s commitment to transparency and good governance.
Participants carried signs and banners expressing their outrage and demanding justice. Representative Cendaña delivered a speech highlighting the implications of the Senate’s decision, arguing it set a dangerous precedent and weakened the mechanisms for holding powerful individuals accountable.
The Akbayan party vowed to continue advocating for transparency and accountability in government and to pursue all available avenues to ensure a full and fair investigation into the allegations against the Vice President. They called on the public to remain vigilant and to demand accountability from their elected officials.
