TO accommodate the expected surge of passengers traveling to the provinces for Undas (All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will temporarily allow provincial buses to use Edsa starting at 10 p.m. on Thursday, October 30.
The MMDA announced that provincial buses will be permitted to use Edsa until 5 a.m. on November 3. This measure is part of “Oplan Undas 2025” and aims to facilitate smoother and faster transportation for those heading to the provinces.
The decision, approved by MMDA Chairman Don Artes, comes in response to a request from the United Association of Provincial Bus Operators in the Philippines, Inc. The MMDA stated that the temporary passage of provincial buses along Edsa is intended to “speed up their turnaround time and ensure continuous trips for their passengers.”
Under the guidelines, provincial buses from North Luzon will be allowed to stop at terminals in Cubao, Quezon City, while buses from South Luzon may travel only up to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange and Pasay. The MMDA has also announced the suspension of the number coding scheme on October 31 to further ease traffic congestion during the Undas period.
