A TRAGIC fire broke out in a residential area on J.P. Rizal Street, Barangay Namayan, Mandaluyong City, on Monday morning, March 24, claiming the life of a three-year-old child and injuring four others.
The child’s body was found on the second floor of a lechon (roasted pig) shop, which also served as a dormitory for workers. According to reports, the child was left alone while the father was busy butchering a pig.
The fire started around 6:38 a.m. and reached a second alarm two minutes later. The shop’s stockroom and a nearby junk shop were also engulfed in flames. The fire was eventually put out at 8:18 a.m.
The four injured individuals sustained burns but are now in stable condition.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
