THOUSANDS of people gathered and filled portions of EDSA on Sunday, June 28, to take part in the “White Ribbon March,” a major rally calling for an end to corruption in public service.
The turnout reflected widespread public concern over issues of misuse of funds, bribery, and irregularities in government transactions, prompting citizens to come together in a unified call for transparency and accountability.
Participants included ordinary citizens, representatives from progressive organizations, and various civil society groups. They marched along the major thoroughfare toward the People Power Monument, carrying white ribbons and banners as symbols of their advocacy.
The event was organized to send a clear message that the public demands honest governance and strict enforcement of laws against corrupt practices at all levels of the administration.
The gathering also recalled the spirit of peaceful assembly and people empowerment, using the historic site as a fitting venue to emphasize that the fight against corruption remains a continuous responsibility. Organizers noted that the march serves not only as a protest but also as a reminder to leaders that public trust must be earned and preserved, and that resources intended for the people should never be diverted for personal gain.
