THE Quezon City Police District – Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) operatives, under the direction of PMAJ Don Don Llapitan, successfully apprehended Glenda Alvera Navarro, a 54-year-old and a resident of No. 66 Naranghita Quirino 2-A, Project 2, Quezon City, for her involvement in a fraudulent investment scheme.
According to the report, the suspect enticed the police officer and the Filipino Chinese Businessman to invest in their company, Neuwave Events and Production, Inc.
The victims entrusted then a total of P51,000,000, lured by promises of attractive returns on their investments.
The suspect issued post-dated checks, assuring the victims of a 50 percent return on investment and guaranteed interest. However, the checks issued by the suspect were marked as closed accounts.
Upon discovering the closed accounts, the victims demanded the return of their invested funds.
In response, the suspect demanded an additional amount of P16,000,000 in exchange for their return on investment (ROI). This prompted the victims to report the incident to the CIDU.
Responding swiftly to the report, CIDU initiated an entrapment operation on November 2, 2023, at 8:00 PM inside Mr. Kebab, located at No. 33 Kalayaan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of P2,000.00 in bills, along with a BDO check.
The suspect will be charged with Estafa, Robbery, and violation of B.P. 22 also known as the Anti-Bouncing Check Law and will be referred to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
