QC begins giving booster shots to healthcare workers

admin November 23, 2021

FOLLOWING the go signal of the national government, the Quezon City government starts its booster vaccination for healthcare workers today, November 23.

An initial 5,000 healthcare workers and non-medical personnel in health facilities will be given booster shots from today until Friday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm at different vaccination sites including Rosa Susano Elementary School, Pinyahan Elementary School and Don Alejandro Roces Science Technology High School. Vaccination for the A1 Priority Group shall continue in the coming days.

“Our healthcare workers are the first ones to receive the vaccines when we first launched it in March. Since they are consistently exposed to the virus due to their work, it is important that they be given booster shots for additional protection,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

According to the guidelines issued by the Department of Health, booster doses shall be given to those who have initially received their second shots at least 6 months ago (around April or May).

Over the weekend, Quezon City-based tertiary hospitals started to vaccinate their medical and non- medical staff.

Meanwhile, healthcare workers of hospitals and medical facilities will need to register with the city’s vaccination registration and booking system: www.qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph/qcvaxeasy

QC Task Force Vax to Normal Coordinator Dr. Malou Eleria said that the city government continues to vaccinate its residents and workers even after exceeding the target population of 1.7 million for population protection.

“The city’s vaccination sites remain operational to accommodate the adult population, minors with comorbidities, and the rest of the pediatric population,” Dr. Eleria said.
