MEN and women of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) condole with the bereaved families of two Coast Guard personnel – Apprentice Seaman (ASN) Ian Paul Fresado and ASN Mark Hernandez – who died during a fire incident at a residential building located at Quentin Paredes Street, Binondo, Manila, on Aug 2.
“We express our sincere condolences to the bereaved families of CG ASN Fresado and CG ASN Hernandez. Their Coast Guard service may be short, but we recognize and appreciate their selfless desire to serve the Filipino nation,” PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan shared.
Investigation revealed that the fire started due to an LPG explosion on the ground floor at around 7AM.
The two Coast Guard personnel were temporarily residing at the building as ‘boarders.’
CG ASN Fresado and CG ASN Hernandez, members of the Coast Guard Non-Officers Course (CGNOC) Class 105, were assigned at the Marine Environmental Protection Command (MEPCOM).
Their bodies, together with nine other victims, were brought to Batangas Sanctuary Funeral Home at Abad Santos Avenue, Tondo, Manila, for proper disposition.
PCG Spokesperson, CG Rear Admiral Armando Balilo, said the Command coordinates with the bereaved families to assist them and provide their needs during this trying time.
