THE Pasig City local government has ordered the shutdown of nine companies owned by contractor couple Sarah and Curlee Discaya due to their failure to settle over ₱1 billion in unpaid taxes.
According to reports, the closure order was issued after Pasig City revoked the Discayas’ business permits. The firms were also allegedly operating without occupancy permits. Among the companies affected is St. Gerard Construction, which was one of the two Discaya construction firms with recently revoked corporate registrations.
The Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board had previously revoked the contractor’s licenses of the nine construction companies.
This latest development adds to the growing legal challenges faced by the Discaya couple. Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla had earlier indicated that they may be facing a total of nine cases. These cases stem from allegations of corruption and irregularities in government contracts.
