THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) stated on Friday that it has not recorded or confirmed any direct threats targeting either the 128th Independence Day celebrations or the Senate of the Philippines.
Speaking over Super Radyo dzBB, NCRPO spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo clarified that while no specific danger has been validated, the police force maintains a full alert status strictly as a preventive measure to ensure public safety and order throughout the commemoration.
“Currently, we are not monitoring any direct and verified threats against the Senate,” Asilo said in Filipino. “However, our intelligence monitoring and security assessment will continue so that we can immediately identify and address any possible concerns,” she added, emphasizing that surveillance and coordination with partner agencies remain active to spot and respond to risks should they emerge. The NCRPO continues to work closely with bodies such as the National Bureau of Investigation to share information and align security measures.
Despite the lack of confirmed threats, a total of 8,405 police personnel have been deployed across Metro Manila. This force includes around 2,000 additional officers augmented from Police Regional Office 3 and Police Regional Office 4‑A. Around 500 of these officers have been specifically stationed around the Senate building, while the rest are securing various venues where Independence Day programs, parades, and activities are scheduled to take place. Asilo stressed that the deployment is part of standard security preparations and not a response to any validated threat report.
Authorities are also keeping watch over possible public assemblies and protest actions, particularly in the cities of Manila and Quezon City. As of now, no group has filed a formal permit to hold demonstrations, but police remain ready to manage gatherings should they occur. Clearing operations have already been conducted in areas surrounding the Senate to prevent encampments and ensure that pathways remain open and orderly, allowing the public to observe the national holiday peacefully and safely.
