IN a joint operation conducted early this morning, June 2, 2026, the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) Special Task Force together with the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP‑CIDG) seized around 2,000 kilograms of illegal and unsafe meat items at the Malabon Public Market.
The haul included hot meat, improperly handled frozen meat, and galantina products, all found to be in violation of national food safety and meat inspection standards.
The enforcement action was carried out in strict compliance with Administrative Orders Nos. 5 and 6, as well as the provisions of the Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines.
Authorities confirmed that all confiscated items were immediately turned over and transported to an accredited rendering facility for proper disposal, ensuring that none of the substandard products would enter the food supply chain or reach consumers.
The NMIS reiterated its commitment to continuous market monitoring and intensified operations to eliminate the trade of uninspected or mishandled meat.
The agency emphasized that such measures are necessary to guarantee that only safe, wholesome, and legally inspected meat products are made available to Filipino households, protecting public health and upholding regulatory standards across the country.
