WHILE Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Ted Herbosa appears before the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI), the local government of Marikina on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, started the construction for the completion of the Concepcion Dos Super Health Center, aligned with the commitment of Mayor Maan Teodoro to finish the project.
Mayor Maan has instructed Arch. Raymond Aquino of the City Architectural Office to mobilize personnel from the City Engineering Department to the site of the Concepcion Dos Super Health Center to begin the construction of phase 2 of the project.
Heavy construction equipment such as backhoe and three dump trucks have been deployed to the area for two-day clearing operation to trim and remove grass and debris, and fix the board-ups in the area.
By Monday, the city will start the proper construction of the health center.
The Super Health Center is not just an ordinary health facility –— it is set to be a four-storey, multi-specialty building that will be able to provide basic medical services, as well as house an Autism Center for children with special needs.
Mayor Maan said that the construction of the Concepcion Dos Super Health Center will now be under the supervision of the local government, and will no longer be handled by a third-party contractor.
“Ibig sabihin po, by admin na ang construction — equipment, materials, workers, provided na lahat ng city government,” stated Mayor Maan.
During the uncoordinated inspection of the DOH on October 15, they saw that the site was fully covered with greeneries. The reason for this is that the Health Department has not provided the funds to continue the construction for the second phase of the Super Health Center.
“Noong unang nag-inspect ang DOH, ang nakita lang nila mga dahon-dahon kasi super tagal na namin nire-request sa kanila na pondohan ang second phase. Pero walang tugon ang DOH,” Mayor Maan said.
“Ngayong araw, tuloy-tuloy na ulit ang konstruksyon ng ating Super Health Center. May backhoe, dump trucks, at vacuum trucks na dineploy sa site. Makikita na talagang 100 percent complete na ang Phase 1. Nandoon na ang malaking concrete slab,” she stated.
“We are true to our words and commitment. Pangako ‘yan ng Marikina at tinutupad natin. Sa Marikina, kapag sinabi, ginagawa,” said the mayor.
In a letter sent to Secretary Herbosa dated October 9, 2025, the city government has “decided to proceed with the construction and completion of the facility using locally-sourced funds or our own LGU funds.”
