A MAN caused significant disruption and concern among MRT-3 passengers after jumping onto the tracks and attempting to flee towards Shaw Boulevard Station on Friday, December 26, 2025.
According to a report from the MRT-3 Safety and Security Unit (SSU), the suspect purchased a ticket for the northbound train at Ortigas Station. However, for reasons still unknown, he suddenly ran, jumped onto the tracks, and continued running in the direction of Shaw Boulevard Station.
“We saw on CCTV that he suddenly ran and jumped. We immediately took action to prevent any accidents,” said SSU Head, Ricardo Santos.
Security personnel quickly responded and chased the man. He was arrested on the new footbridge near Shaw Boulevard Station.
The suspect has been identified as John Doe, 25 years old, a resident of Quezon City. He is currently facing charges of alarm and scandal and resisting arrest. The motive for his actions is still under investigation.
“We don’t understand why he did it. What he did was dangerous; he could have been hit by a train,” added Santos.
Due to the incident, there was a temporary delay in the operation of MRT-3. The management of MRT-3 apologizes for the inconvenience caused by the incident.
The public is reminded that violating MRT-3 regulations is strictly prohibited for the safety of everyone.
