THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a man after swindling a victim in a supposed piggery business that was not existent.
Aldrin Oleta was arrested by operatives of NBI – Anti-Fraud Division (NBI-AFD) in an entrapment operation in Ermita, Manila for estafa and violation of R.A. 8799 or the “Securities Regulation Code.”
The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by the victim of the suspect who averred that he was enticed to invest in the latter’s supposed piggery business for an initial investment of P72,000.00 as pay-in for ten heads of pigs, and with earnings of P28,000.00 after three (3) months.
However, before the supposed meet-up with Oleta, complainant discovered that the said piggery investment business was a fraud because Oleta has consistently failed to release the supposed profits to other investors and that the piggery business is non-existent.
Despite this, Oleta has been constantly demanding payment of investment from target investors that prompted complainant to report to NBI.
Further investigation by the NBI-AFD revealed that Oleta was also the subject of the same investment scheme which defrauded other victims of more than P11 million.
On August 11, 2022, Oleta was arrested by NBI-AFD operatives in an entrapment operation and was presented for inquest proceedings before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Manila.
