A 14-year-old Malaysian-Chinese student from a prestigious private school in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, has been returned to his family after being kidnapped. However, the student was found with a severed finger, and a ransom of 20 million US dollars was reportedly demanded.
Reports suggest that the student’s own family driver may have been involved in the kidnapping. While it is unclear if the family paid the ransom, authorities are investigating the incident.
In a letter to parents, the school administration assured the safety of students as their top priority. They also stated that they have provided counseling and emotional support to students, including the victim of the kidnapping.
Meanwhile, the Southern Police District (SPD) confirmed in a private message that the incident is now under the jurisdiction of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group and is being thoroughly investigated.
