FORMER Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog has been convicted by the Quezon City regional trial court of illegal drug possession and sentenced her to life imprisonment.
Judge Mitushealla Manzanero-Casiño of Branch 228 of the QC RTC found Parojinog guilty of illegal possession of over 667 grams of shabu and ordered her to pay a P500,000 fine.
“There is no doubt in the mind of the Court that the prosecution has proven beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of illegal possession of 677.6796 grams of shabu,” Casiño said.
Her brother, Reynaldo Parojinog Jr., was convicted of illegal drug possession in May 2019 and sentence to life imprisonment.
Nova Parojinog was arrested during a July 2017 police raid of her family’s compound where her 15 people, including her father Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. and mother Susan were killed.
Prior to the raid, then President Rodrigo Duterte linked Mayor Parojinog to the illegal drug trade. He was one of the officials Duterte named as part of his anti-narcotics campaign.
