OFFICERS of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a Chinese national for attempting to depart using a fraudulent Mexican passport.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco shared that officers assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 reported the interception of Lho Zhi Min, 53, after attempting to depart for Kuala Lumpur on board a Malaysia Airlines flight Saturday morning.
Reports reveal that Lho presented a Mexican passport upon primary inspection, but when asked basic questions, could not answer directly.
The officer doubted the authenticity of his documents and referred it for tertiary inspection.
The BI’s Forensic Documents Laboratory confirmed that said passport was indeed fraudulent.
Lho was immediately arrested for violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.
After inquest proceedings, he will remain in the BI’s Warden Facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending deportation proceedings.
