THE image of Jesus Nazareno has returned to Quiapo Church from Quirino Grandstand in Manila City on Saturday, marking the end of the traditional Traslacion after a historic 30 hours, 50 minutes, and 1 second – making it the longest procession in the event’s history.
The Black Nazarene entered the gates of Quiapo Church at 10:50 a.m., concluding this year’s Traslacion, which drew an estimated 9,640,290 participants, according to official figures released by church officials. The procession commenced at Quirino Grandstand at 4 a.m. on Friday.
“Ito na ang pinakamahabang selebrasyon ng traslacion (This is the longest celebration of the Traslacion),” Quiapo Church communications coordinator Silgen Cabrito confirmed in a message to reporters. The event was marked by intense devotion and large crowds, with authorities working to ensure the safety and security of the millions of devotees who participated.
