A PASIG City court sealed the fate of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo on Thursday, ordering her detention at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) after finding her guilty of qualified human trafficking.
The four-page commitment order, dated November 27, directs the Corrections Superintendent of the CIW to take custody of Guo, along with her co-accused Rachelle Joan Malonzo Carreon and Jaimielyn Santos Cruz.
This development follows the Pasig Regional Trial Court-Branch 167’s finding Guo guilty of qualified human trafficking and sentencing her to life imprisonment. Guo’s camp promptly filed a motion for her to remain at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory instead of being transferred to the CIW.
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has stated that it is fully prepared to accept Guo and other individuals. BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. assured that security measures are being enhanced at the CIW. Upon arrival, Guo’s documents and belongings will be verified, and she will be quarantined in the Reception and Diagnostic Center (RDC) for five days for a thorough medical examination. She will then undergo mandatory orientation, diagnostics, and qualification before being transferred to a regular dormitory at the Maximum Security Camp.
Guo and others were charged with violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended. The case is connected with the raid on a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban in June 2024, where over 800 Filipinos and foreigners were rescued.
