THE Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said that some parts of Metro Manila and Rizal will experience temporary power interruptions this week due to maintenance works.
Meralco’s head of corporate communications Joe Zaldarriaga said that upgrading and maintenance works have been scheduled in certain areas each day from April 2-7.
“Clarify ko lang meron kasi tayong tinatawag na upgrading and maintenance schedule na ginagawa every week but this only involves pocket areas at hindi ito malawakan usually couple of areas a day,” Zaldarriaga explained in an interview with Radyo 630.
(I just want to clarify because we have what is called an upgrading and maintenance schedule that is done every week, but this only involves pocket areas and it is not widespread usually a couple of areas a day.)
“Kada araw may certain areas of certain cities or municipalities ang kailangan lang namin temporarily tanggalan ng serbisyo ng kuryente dahil hindi naman pwedeng magkabit ng bagong poste without de-energizing or tinatanggalan muna ng power ‘yung area,” he added.
(Every day there are certain areas of certain cities or municipalities that we only need to temporarily disconnect from electricity service because it is not possible to install a new pole without de-energizing or removing the power to the area first.)
Based on Meralco’s advisory, areas set to have electricity service interruptions within April 2-7 are:

A portion of Amorsolo St. from Gamboa St. to Antonio Arnaiz Ave., including Adelantado St.; and First Global Building in Legazpi Village, Bgy. San Lorenzo. (Between 11 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on April 2 and 3:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. on April 3)
A portion of Antonio Arnaiz Ave. from Don Chino Roces Ave. to and including WalterMart Makati, Nihonbashitei, and Salesiana Publishers in Barangays Pio Del Pilar and San Lorenzo (Between 11 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on April 2 and 3:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. on April 3)
