A DEVASTATING fire tore through a residential area in Sampaloc, Manila on Wednesday, July 2nd, destroying 70 homes and leaving approximately 200 families homeless.
The blaze, which reached a fourth alarm, rapidly consumed houses along M. Dela Fuente Street in Barangay 488. Heartbreaking scenes unfolded as residents desperately salvaged what they could from the smoldering remains of their homes, their faces etched with shock and despair.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno visited the site to assess the damage and offer support to the affected families. He assured them that the city government would provide immediate assistance, including temporary shelter, food, and other necessities.
The mayor also pledged to work towards providing long-term solutions to help the displaced families rebuild their lives. Various relief organizations and volunteers have also joined efforts to aid those affected by the tragedy.
The scale of the destruction underscores the urgent need for improved fire safety measures and disaster preparedness in densely populated areas.
