PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has vowed to pursue charges against individuals who facilitated the escape of former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, who was recently arrested in Indonesia.
Speaking to reporters at the Palace on Wednesday, Marcos assured that those implicated in assisting Guo’s flight from the country would face legal consequences.
“All those who are implicated in assisting Alice Guo to leave the Philippines illegally as a fugitive from justice will certainly pay the price,” Marcos stated. “We won’t just fire them, we will file charges against them because what they did violates the law and is against all of the interests of the Philippine judicial system.”
When asked to identify the individuals involved, Marcos replied, “You’ll find out soon enough.”
Guo, who is facing charges in the Philippines, was apprehended in Indonesia after fleeing the country. Her escape has sparked investigations into potential complicity within government agencies.
