PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. launched discounted Beep cards for students using Metro Manila’s rail lines on Saturday, a move aimed at making public transportation more affordable for young commuters.
The rollout of the student Beep cards at the Legarda Station of the Light Rail Transit-Line 2 (LRT-2) is part of the Marcos administration’s broader public transport reforms designed to improve the commuting experience across the capital.
During the ceremonial launch, Marcos emphasized that students would automatically receive a 50-percent discount when using the LRT-1, LRT-2, and Metro Rail Transit (MRT)-3.
He acknowledged the financial constraints faced by students, stating that the discounted Beep cards would provide significant relief. The President also highlighted a new, more convenient method for topping up Beep cards, eliminating the need for physical reloading stations and streamlining the process for students.
Marcos reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to modernizing public transportation, ensuring a more comfortable and efficient commuting experience for all passengers.
