PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. officially launched a 50-percent discount on train fares for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) at the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) Santolan-Annapolis Station in Quezon City on July 16, 2025.
The launch coincided with the commencement of the 47th National Disability Week (July 17-23), highlighting the administration’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and upholding the rights of PWDs.
The event, held under the theme “Innovation for Inclusion: Building Inclusive Communities Together,” aimed to celebrate the dignity and rights of all Filipinos, with a particular focus on PWDs. The fare discount initiative is a significant step towards ensuring greater accessibility and affordability of public transportation for this vulnerable sector of the population.
The implementation of the 50-percent discount for senior citizens and PWDs on MRT-3 is expected to significantly improve their access to public transportation, promoting greater mobility and participation in society.
This initiative aligns with the government’s broader efforts to foster an inclusive and equitable society, where PWDs and senior citizens can fully participate in all aspects of life.
The launch event served as a platform to highlight the ongoing commitment to improving the lives of PWDs and senior citizens in the Philippines and to showcase the government’s dedication to creating a more accessible and inclusive environment for all.
