PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivers a statement outlining his activities ahead of his inaugural state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia as he departs from Villamor Air Base, Pasay City on September 7, 2025.
The President’s three (3)-day state visit to Cambodia is at the invitation of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni. It also serves as a reciprocal visit following Prime Minister Hun Manet’s trip to Manila in February this year.
This marks the first state visit by a Philippine President in nine (9) years. Kicking off his visit, President Marcos Jr. will meet with members of the Filipino Community in Cambodia, part of the approximately 7,500 Filipinos residing there, who form a vibrant and thriving diaspora.
During his trip, President Marcos Jr. is scheduled to meet with Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen, on behalf of His Majesty, and Prime Minister Hun Manet.
The discussion will focus on strengthening people-to-people ties, diversifying trade and economic relations, and addressing transnational crimes.
He will also seek support for the Philippines’ upcoming chairship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2026. Additionally, the President will hold a roundtable discussion with Filipino and Cambodian business leaders to promote trade and investment opportunities, further cementing economic cooperation between the two countries.
This visit is expected to lead to new agreements and initiatives that will enhance bilateral cooperation and bring tangible benefits to both of its peoples.
