ACTRESS and TV host Maine Mendoza has publicly defended her husband, Quezon City Representative Arjo Atayde, following his implication in alleged corruption related to flood control projects.
Atayde’s name surfaced during a Senate hearing on Monday, where contractor couple Sarah and Curlee Discaya mentioned him in connection with individuals purportedly involved in corrupt practices.
In a statement posted on X, Mendoza strongly refuted the allegations, stating, “Those are baseless allegations. Please refrain from throwing hate and personal attacks at him, including me and our family until facts come out. I am with my husband in this. Wala siyang ginagawang masama sa loob.” She emphasized Atayde’s dedication to serving his constituents in Quezon City, adding, “He has been doing his best to serve the people of his district in Quezon City since the beginning.”
Mendoza expressed her hope that those truly responsible for any wrongdoing will be held accountable and that innocent individuals will be spared from the controversy.
“I sincerely hope and pray that the people who are truly responsible will be held accountable and that innocent individuals be spared from this mess. Napaka unfair,” she concluded. Mendoza’s vocal support for her husband highlights the personal impact of the ongoing investigation and underscores the importance of due process as the allegations are examined.
