AUTHORITIES are investigating three luxury vehicles seized in separate operations in Pasay City and Cavite, raising questions about potential links to anomalous flood control projects.
The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) impounded a GMC Denali SUV, a Porsche Boxster, and a Chevy Camaro due to alleged documentation issues.
While the PNP-HPG clarified that there is no concrete evidence linking the vehicles to the flood control investigation, they confirmed that they are scrutinizing the luxury vehicles owned by government officials involved in the projects.
The seizures have fueled speculation that the vehicles may have been hastily disposed of due to the ongoing flood control probe. The PNP-HPG is awaiting the necessary documents from the owners to determine the vehicles’ legitimacy.
The PNP-HPG and the Bureau of Customs plan to meet to improve coordination in clearing imported vehicles, potentially tightening regulations to prevent similar situations in the future. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are exploring all possible angles to determine if the seized vehicles are connected to any illicit activities.
