THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) has ordered the 90-day suspension of the driver’s license of a man who was filmed allowing a child to steer a moving car while seated on his lap.
The incident, which occurred in Butuan City and went viral on social media on October 11, 2025, sparked outrage and prompted swift action from the LTO.
The LTO issued a Show Cause Order to the registered owner of the vehicle, citing multiple violations of traffic laws. These include reckless driving, failure to wear a seatbelt, and allowing a child to sit in the front seat.
The driver is also accused of being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
The MG sedan involved in the incident has been placed under alarm, and the driver’s license will remain under preventive suspension for 90 days, pending the results of an administrative investigation.
The driver and registered owner have been summoned to appear before the LTO on October 15 to explain their actions. The LTO has reminded motorists to prioritize road safety and warned that similar acts of negligence will be met with severe consequences.
