SENATOR Lito Lapid has ordered an investigation on the spread of illegal online gambling advertising on social media platforms across the country.
According to Lapid, chairman of the Senate committee on Games and Amusements, young people will be exposed early through social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, and Tiktok. This will also destroy their values (values) and morality (morality) if the government can’t take action.
“If the youth survive playing online gaming, how can we raise them well and have morals in life. It’s sad that our youth values this evil vice will be destroyed and they can possibly even afford a small amount of school allowance. What’s more tragic is that this might become a mocking to their parents and they’ll learn to steal, just like the characters in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” Lapid said.
The senator also said it’s easy to put applications on cell phones and other mobile devices for online gambling. This is usually overlooked by parents. It’s very easy to register here because only name and age are needed.
Among the online gambling that young people are addicted to nowadays are poker, roulette, color games and other gambling such as casinos.
Therefore, the senator will submit a resolution to have the committee investigate the spread of illegal online gambling and draft legislation to curb or stop it.
