KABAYAN Partylist Rep. Ron Salo expresses his deepest sympathies to those severely impacted by the devastating 7.4 magnitude that struck Taiwan’s southeastern coast on April 3, 2024.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs calls upon the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taiwan, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to actively monitor the situation, provide vital assistance to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and coordinate with concerned agencies to facilitate aid and support recovery efforts efficiently.
Further, DMW and OWWA need to immediately establish a mechanism to inform families of affected OFWs of their loved ones’ status.
Rep. Salo offers prayers for the swift recovery of Taiwan from this disaster and for the continued safety of OFWs residing there.
“Our hearts go out to everyone affected, and we stand in solidarity with the people of Taiwan as they rebuild and recover. Let us pray and offer our support with the Taiwanese people during this challenging time,” Salo stated.
