THE Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) will begin livestreaming its hearings on anomalous flood control projects starting next week.
This was announced by ICI Chairman Andres Reyes Jr. on Wednesday, October 22, during the organizational meeting of the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights. The meeting was held to discuss Senate Bill No. 1215, which aims to create the Independent People’s Commission (IPC) to investigate all anomalies in government infrastructure projects.
“We will try our best to be able to full blast investigation of all these fraud. We don’t have the facility, we don’t have the rules of procedure, but we will already shorten the procedure in spite of no rules allowing us, we will now go on livestream next week once we get to be able to have the technical capability with us already,” said Reyes.
Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, chairman of the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights, welcomed the announcement.
Last month, ICI Executive Director Brian Keith Hosaka stated that the commission’s hearings could not be livestreamed to avoid ‘trial by publicity’ and any political influence.
