A GROUP of House leaders, led by Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. and Deputy Speaker David “Jay-jay” Suarez, have filed two significant bills addressing pressing national issues.
House Bill No. 10986 proposes to classify extrajudicial killing (EJKs) as a heinous crime, aiming to strengthen legal repercussions for perpetrators. Meanwhile, House Bill No. 10987 seeks to institutionalize a ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) due to their alleged links to crime and national security risks.
The bills were co-authored by Quad Committee Chairs Robert Ace Barbers, Dan Fernandez, Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr., and Joseph Stephen “Caraps” Paduano, along with Representatives Romeo Acop, Johnny Pimentel, Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro, Rodge Gutierrez, Paolo Ortega V, Jay Khonghun, and Jonathan Keith Flores.
This legislative initiative reflects a growing concern within the House of Representatives to address the pressing issues of EJKs and POGO operations, which have been subject to public scrutiny and debate.
