THE Department of Education (DepEd) ordered its Regional Office in Central Luzon to probe a viral, but now-deleted Tiktok video of a certain teacher “insinuating a potential child abuse action” after a “cute student” passed by.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones, in a statement, also ordered that the teacher should be meted “appropriate sanctions” pending the results of the inquiry.
Public Affairs Services Director 4 June Arvin Gudoy confirmed in a message that the statement released by DepEd was referring to a video posted by Tiktok user @leobondoclopez, whose account is now set to private.
The DepEd reminded its teaching and non-teaching personnel to be mindful of their words and actions, including social media activities, to practice to the highest degree ethical and professional standards.
“As teachers and public servants, we must always champion a safe and nurturing learning environment for children, where physical, verbal, sexual, and other forms of abuse and discrimination are renounced,” the Education Department reiterated.
