A WANTED gang leader and one of his members were arrested during intensified police operations in Lanao del Norte on Thursday morning.
Chief PNP, Police General Dionardo Carlos identified the suspects as Cabantog Alompo and Madrigal Alompo, who were arrested in their family compound at Poblacion, Tangkal, Lanao Del Norte.
Cabantog is known as the leader of Cabantog-Managsa Alompo Group, a newly identified gun for hire group operating in Lanao Del Norte and nearby provinces.
“The arrest of these persons and the confiscation of their deadly arsenal is a significant development in the PNP’s anti-criminality operations and manhunt against wanted persons especially known supporters of terrorist groups,” Carlos said.
According to the report, joint operatives of Regional Special Operating Unit 10, 1005th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10, 12th Special Action Company, Regional Intelligence Unit 10, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Lanao Del Norte, Regional Intelligence Division-10, and Tangcal Municipal Police Station conducted intelligence-driven operations by virtue of Search Warrants No. 21-568 and 21-573 dated March 28 and 29, 2022 issued by Hon. Alberto Quinto, Presiding Judge, RTC, 12TH Judicial Region, Br 21 of Kapatagan, Lanao Del Norte for violation of Republic Act 10591.
Recovered from the suspects were:
One unit US Rifle 7.62 mm M14;
One unit Cal. 5.56 Bushmaster;
One unit Cal. 45 pistol Thompson;
One Cal. 45 pistol Colt;
One Cal. 9mm pistol Taurus;
204 pieces of M14 live ammunition;
698 pieces of M16 live ammunitions (Green tip);
36 pieces Cal. 45 live ammunitions;
88 pieces 9mm live ammunition;
Eight pieces M14 magazine;
13 pieces M16 long magazine;
13 pieces M16 short magazine;
Six pieces Cal. 45 steel magazine;
Three pieces 9mm steel magazine;
19 pieces Clips for Garand Rifle;
Two pieces of Rifle Grenade;
One piece Fragmentation grenade;
Six pieces Bandolier;
One unit Cal. 5.56 Rifle Remington Arms;
261 pieces 5.56 live ammunitions;
Two pieces of Garand live ammunitions;
One piece Fragmentation grenade; and
Two pieces of camouflage uniforms.
“It may take some months even years but definitely the long arm of the law will soon catch up with all fugitives and wanted persons,” Carlos expressed.
The suspects and seized items are now under the custody of RSOU10 for documentation and proper disposition.
