AMIDST the political turmoil triggered by recent developments, particularly amidst the prevailing campaign and election fever, Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas party-list first nominee Dr. Jose Antonio ‘Ka Pep’ Goitia is urging Filipinos to prioritize unity through steadfast adherence to the rule of law.
Goitia maintained that in upholding the law, Filipinos can ensure that no legal blocks would impair our country’s march towards development and progress as the Philippines’ judicial system remains capable and independent even as unity would enhance the capability of the citizenry to support the government’s initiatives for full economic recovery.
Meanwhile, the party-list congressional aspirant expressed gratitude to ABP’s supporters and other social rights groups and civic organizations for firmly standing in the his party-list ‘s “firm and balanced stance amid the political tensions” triggered by the political bickering that has caused divisiveness among government and the citizenry.
In a video message, Goitia acknowledged groups, like the Filipinos Do Not Yield Movement (FDNY-Movement), People’s Alliance for Democracy and Reform (PADeR), Alyansa ng Bayan para sa Kapayapaan at Demokrasya (ABKD), Liga Independencia Pilipinas (LIPI), Isang Bansang Pilipinas (IBP) and Kapisanan ng Mamamayang Pilipino (KaMPil), in their “consistent advocacy for peace and justice, underscoring the importance of voices that call for calm, order, and fidelity to lawful processes.”
He said that the country is “facing a sensitive and complicated environment, where restraint, mutual respect and confidence in the legal framework are urgently needed to avoid any instability.”
This, he said, is an important aspect in governance that Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas is fighting for as he believes that the political platform ang legislative agenda they are advocating for is founded on each firefighter, rescuer and volunteer’s aggressive stand to save human lives and assets through sacrifice and loyalty.
“We are here to serve so we will not embroil ourselves in politics or bickerings that will only divide our country and see Filipino against Filipinos. Kailangan nating magkaisa. Our advocacy is to push for legislation that will prioritize the welfare of first responders—our firefighters and volunteers—and not only them but for every Filipino citizen,” he stressed in conclusion.
