FORMER Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary and current Senator Mark Villar appeared before the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) on Tuesday, October 7. The appearance is part of the ICI’s ongoing investigation into infrastructure projects and potential irregularities.
Villar, who served as DPWH chief under former president Rodrigo Duterte, was invited by the commission “to discuss and shed light on the planning, budgeting, execution, supervision, and monitoring of flood control and other infrastructure projects” during his tenure.
The ICI’s investigation is focused on examining the processes and decisions surrounding infrastructure projects during Villar’s time as DPWH secretary, aiming to identify any potential issues or areas of concern. His testimony is expected to provide valuable insights into the workings of the DPWH and the oversight of infrastructure projects.
