
A FEMALE pilot died in a helicopter crash in Guimba, Nueva Ecija on Saturday, February 1, authorities confirmed. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) spokesperson, Eric Apolonio, reported that the Robinson helicopter, RP-C 3424, crashed in Barangay San Miguel around 5:20 p.m.
The pilot, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was the sole occupant.
Local residents assisted in the immediate recovery of the victim’s remains and belongings. An identification card found at the scene indicated the pilot was 25 years old.
The helicopter had departed Manila at 10:22 a.m., traveled to Baguio where it dropped off a passenger, refueled in Binalonan, Pangasinan at 12:05 p.m., and experienced a delay before finally taking off at 4:30 p.m.
The Guimba Police Station received a report of the crash shortly after. CAAP is investigating the cause of the accident.
