Pitogo, Quezon – Five members of a family in Brgy. Saguinsinan, Pitogo, Quezon, died after their home was struck by a large Buri tree during the height of Typhoon Ramil this morning, October 19.
The fatalities include Alvin Peña, 36, and Andrea Bueno, 32, along with their two children, Yosh Nazareth Peña, 11, and Noeh Peña, 2, and Andrea’s father, Alberto Bueno, who was in his 60s.
According to neighbors, the family was asleep when the large tree directly struck their house as the typhoon raged through the province. “No one survived, because all were hit on the head,” said Irish, a neighbor of the victims. One of the children survived the accident and immediately sought help from neighbors. Neighbors quickly worked together to remove the deceased, but none of those trapped under the tree survived.
