ACTRESS and comedian Pokwang has issued a public apology on behalf of her family after a video of her brother slapping a cart pusher went viral on social media, leading to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) suspending his driver’s license.
The LTO took action after a video surfaced showing the unidentified driver of a white Toyota Hilux slapping the back of the head of a man pushing a cart during an argument. The cart pusher’s child was also present and seen crying after witnessing the altercation.
Pokwang confirmed that the driver in the video is her brother, releasing a statement via a video on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Dec. 16. “Totoo po ‘yung tungkol sa nag-viral na video na isang lalaki na naka-Hilux na Toyota na puti—opo, kapatid ko po ‘yun,” she said. (It is true that the driver of the white Toyota Hilux in a recent viral video is my brother.)
However, Pokwang emphasized that her brother’s actions are his sole responsibility and do not reflect on her or their family. “Maaari pong iisa kami ng apelyido pero hindi naman po kami laging pareho ng pag-iisip at mga gawain,” she continued. (We may have the same surname but we do not think and act the same.)
