THE Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has denied claims that director Darryl Yap’s controversial film about Pepsi Paloma is currently under review. In a statement released today, the MTRCB clarified that the film is not under review due to incomplete requirements submitted by the distributor, PinoyFlix Films and Entertainment Production.
The MTRCB’s Legal Affairs Division requires three specific documents from the distributor: a Certificate or Clearance of No Pending Criminal, Civil, or Administrative Case from the Regional Trial Court, the Department of Justice, and the Office of the City Prosecutor. These documents are standard requirements for film review, designed to ensure compliance with Presidential Decree No. 1986, which regulates and classifies motion pictures and television programs in the Philippines.
The MTRCB emphasized that its review process is rigorous and meticulous, designed to uphold its mandate to protect public interest. The board strongly refuted any misinformation suggesting otherwise, warning that any deliberate attempt to mislead the public will face legal action. The statement underscores the MTRCB’s commitment to transparency and adherence to established procedures in its film classification process.
