VETERAN actor Red Sternberg, known for his work in the Philippines during the 1990s, passed away on Tuesday, May 27th, just three days before his 51st birthday.
The news was confirmed by his wife, Sandy Sternberg, in a Facebook post on May 30th, which would have been his birthday. While the cause of death has not been publicly disclosed, Sandy described the period as “the most difficult time” of her life, noting the unexpected juxtaposition of birthday wishes and condolences.
Sandy’s post highlighted the significance of May as a special month for the family, with several birthdays falling within the month.
She described Sternberg as “simply Dada” to their three children, emphasizing his role as a loving father beyond his acting career. She requested privacy for the family during their grieving process, promising to share memorial arrangements at a later date.
The outpouring of grief extends beyond the immediate family, with filmmaker Mark Reyes, among others, expressing condolences on social media. Reyes noted the heartbreak felt by the cast and crew of “T.G.I.S,” where Sternberg had worked.
The sudden loss of Sternberg has left a void within the Philippine entertainment community and among his family and friends. His contributions to the industry during the 1990s and his legacy as a loving father will be remembered. The family’s request for privacy during this difficult time should be respected as they navigate their loss.
