THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) is preparing to launch a nationwide rollout of free “Love Buses,” following a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The President ordered the DOTr to reinstate the “Love Bus” program and make the service free for passengers. President Marcos stated, “We will not only bring back the Love Bus, we will also make it free.
Pilot testing is already underway in Davao and Cebu, and this will be followed by other areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.”
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon confirmed the DOTr’s readiness to implement the program, aiming to provide more comfortable travel for commuters. Dizon stated, “We will immediately act on the President’s wishes for our fellow commuters. We will study this (Love Bus) in the coming weeks. Hopefully, before the end of the year, we will be starting this as a nationwide program.”
The specific designs for the Love Buses have not yet been released, but the DOTr is moving forward with the initiative to expand the free bus service across the country.
