THE Department of Justice (DOJ) has stated that an active police general is allegedly assisting or involved with suspects in the case of the missing “sabungeros” (cockfighting enthusiasts).
According to Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla, the Philippine National Police (PNP) official in question was even appointed as a Regional Director, a position Remulla insists he should not hold. Remulla further stated that when the general was transferred to the regional director post, he brought the suspects with him as part of his office.
The Justice Secretary did not disclose the identity of the general.
“Another general was made a Regional Director who should not have been placed in that position. Because he was the one who provided assistance and support to the suspects in this missing sabungeros case,” said Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla of the Department of Justice.\
“When the general transferred offices, he took these individuals to be under his wing, the suspects in the missing sabungeros case,” Remulla added.
