SENATOR Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan has accused Net25 of unfairly targeting his wife, actress Sharon Cuneta, and is demanding a public apology for dragging her into a discussion about flood control projects she has no connection to.
Pangilinan’s demand comes after Net25 news anchors, during an interview with Sen. Dante Marcoleta, urged Cuneta to convince her husband to step down from the blue ribbon committee, claiming he was proposing a separate, independent probe into flood control projects.
Pangilinan clarified that it was Senate Minority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III who proposed the creation of an Independent People’s Commission, with Pangilinan merely expressing his support.
Pangilinan criticized Net25 for dragging his wife into the issue, stating that she was unfairly mocked on air and disrespected despite having no connection to the corruption allegations.
He called on the network to issue a formal apology to Cuneta, asserting that she deserves a public apology from Net25 and its anchorpersons for insulting her and wounding her feelings. Pangilinan urged the network to refrain from dragging innocent people, particularly the wives of senators, into Senate matters.
