A WARRANT for the arrest of Jude Bacalso, an LGBTQ+ member, has been issued by MTCC Branch 6 for grave slander.
The charges follow a July 2024 incident where Bacalso allegedly verbally abused a restaurant waiter for using the term “sir.”
A video of Bacalso forcing the waiter into a prolonged “parade rest” stance went viral, sparking public outrage and support for the reportedly humiliated waiter.
The waiter’s subsequent complaint led to the ₱18,000 bail set for Bacalso’s release pending legal proceedings.
While Bacalso remains silent, the case has ignited a wider conversation about workplace respect, gender sensitivity, and the importance of human rights in all interactions.
The incident underscores the need for accountability and equality within society.
