THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) officially proclaimed the 12 winning senators for the 2025 midterm elections on Saturday, culminating a hard-fought campaign season. The proclamation ceremony, held at the Tent City in Manila Hotel, saw the victorious candidates celebrate alongside their families and supporters.
Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go secured a resounding victory, topping the polls with a staggering 27,121,073 votes, securing his second term in the Senate. His win marks a significant endorsement of his political standing and policy platform.
Former senator Bam Aquino made a triumphant return to the Senate, securing second place with 20,971,899 votes. His comeback is seen as a testament to his enduring popularity and ability to reconnect with the electorate.
Rounding out the top three was reelectionist Senator Ronald dela Rosa, who garnered 20,773,946 votes. His continued presence in the Senate underscores his consistent appeal to voters.
Other senators-elect who secured their seats include Erwin Tulfo (4th place, 17,118,881 votes), Kiko Pangilinan (5th place, 15,343,229 votes), Rodante Marcoleta (6th place, 15,250,723 votes), Ping Lacson (7th place, 15,106,111 votes), Tito Sotto III (8th place, 14,832,996 votes), Pia Cayetano (9th place, 14,573,430 votes), Camille Villar (10th place, 13,651,274 votes), Lito Lapid (11th place, 13,394,102 votes), and Imee Marcos (12th place, 13,339,227 votes).
Notable was the absence of Senator-elect Kiko Pangilinan, who was unable to attend the proclamation due to a prior commitment: his daughter’s graduation ceremony in the United States.
The Comelec’s announcement concludes the official process of the 2025 senatorial elections, paving the way for the 20th Congress to convene and begin its legislative work.
The newly elected senators will face a range of challenges, from addressing economic concerns to navigating complex political issues. Their success in the coming years will be crucial to the nation’s progress and development.
