PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief General Nicolas Torre III announced the arrest of Chinese fugitive Wang Dan Yu, alias Bao Long, in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on Saturday.
Bao Long was apprehended while allegedly attempting to illegally re-enter the Philippines through the southern backdoor.
He is wanted for a string of serious crimes, including murder, carnapping, and kidnapping for ransom.
Furthermore, Bao Long is a prime suspect in a restaurant shooting incident that occurred in Makati in 2024. His arrest marks a significant success in the ongoing efforts to apprehend high-profile fugitives and maintain the security of the country’s borders.
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla previously identified Bao Long as the primary suspect in the abduction of a 14-year-old student in Taguig last February.
The arrest underscores the PNP’s commitment to apprehending criminals regardless of their nationality or attempts to evade justice. Authorities are currently working to gather further evidence and fully investigate Bao Long’s alleged involvement in the various crimes he is accused of committing.
The apprehension of this high-profile fugitive is a significant victory for law enforcement and serves as a strong message that the Philippines will not tolerate criminal activity within its borders.
