Cavite 1st District Representative Jolo Revilla
LAWMAKER and labor advocate Rep. Ramon Jolo B. Revilla III on Monday (June 30) welcomed the issuance of Wage Order No. 26 by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – National Capital Region, which would grant a P50 daily minimum wage increase to workers in NCR starting July 18.
However, the solon underscored that while this is a step forward, it is still not enough to address the rising cost of living faced by millions of Filipino workers.
Revilla is the principal author of the proposed P200 daily wage increase measure, which successfully passed on third and final reading in both houses of Congress during the previous 19th Congress. In the current 20th Congress, he has once again refiled the bill to ensure that Filipino workers receive fair and livable wages.
The congressman stressed that the P200 increase is aimed at providing immediate and tangible relief to workers who continue to bear the brunt of inflation and rising prices of basic goods and services.
“Our workers are the backbone of our economy. They deserve a wage that not only recognizes their hard work but also allows them to live with dignity and security,” he added.
Revilla also called on his fellow lawmakers and concerned government agencies to support the passage of the P200 daily wage increase and to continue working together to uplift the lives of all Filipino workers.
